Could Chafee make a comeback and become the next Jeffords

If one believes the latest Mason-Dixon poll which Jim Geraghty is hyping (I personally don't), it's possible that Chafee could turn things around and win. If he does, and if the Senate once again is split 50-50, I would be not in the least surprised if he switched parties early next year like Vermont Senator Jim Jeffords did in 2000. I'd love to see the look on the faces of the GOP geniuses who decided to fund him if that happens.
